Light will travel for approximately nine blocks from a torch. However, torches may not be used for lighting up large structures such as a cave or a large building. Since torches emit a small amount of light, a blockhead must be standing directly on it to maintain its happiness in a dark area.
==Pros and Cons == | |||
Basic torches are mainly cheap to craft on anywhere as long as you have your fueled campfire. All you need to do out in the world is to grab a stick by just clearing out leaves and you are ready to craft a basic torch. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, they are not a good source of light due to the fact that the light isn't strong enough. It is recommended you at least bring some oil lanterns before you head out to somewhere else.
