A mountain in map mode

Mountainous regions rise abruptly from the surrounding terrain. They have stone interiors and the largest ones have stone exteriors. Some mountains contain caves.

Climbing to the top of the tallest mountain of a world gives the "Mountaineer" achievement. As the altitude increases, the temperature decreases and becomes colder, making snow more likely to occur than rain.

The presence of a mountain on the surface may indicate a rise in the level of magma or the frequency of various ores beneath it. Lapis lazuli has been found to be more likely to be found in mountains.
