An article of clothing can only be dyed once. Dyed clothing is treated by stacks as a different item from an item of the same type that is undyed or colored differently and cannot be combined in a stack.
A bed or article of clothing that has been dyed cannot be re-dyed or have the color removed.

Aborting the dyeing process will not only return all the components used, but an article of clothing will be returned in a pristine state (undegraded).

Dyed beds or clothing can be combined in a stack with items of the same type whether dyed or undyed. They seem to be stacked in a LIFO (Last In, First Out) system.
