Template:Block Infobox An iron trapdoor is an item created at a Metalwork Bench.

Appearance

When placed, an iron trapdoor fills the space of one block and takes on characteristics of the local back wall, the block above it, the block below it, or just wood. When placed on top of open dirt, it usually acts as wood.

Viewed in detail, a placed iron trapdoor appears to be composed of two side-facing doors, a gap between them, and block-like surfaces before and behind.

Crafting

It is created using one Iron Block and one Ladder. While parts of it can take on the appearance of other blocks, the door itself always looks to be iron.

Uses

Iron trapdoors are construction blocks that allow the person who placed the iron door blockhead(s)to pass but are a barrier to creatures or other players. They can be removed with the appropriate tool applied to it.

A Blockhead passing through an iron trapdoor's location will automatically open and close it, although special circumstances may make it appear that the door is left open. The door will always be opened away from the Blockhead opening it, and a door with a solid block on the other side cannot be opened.

An iron door can make a convenient "fence" to keep animals from passing without significantly slowing down a Blockhead.

It can also be useful in multilayer as to allow only your Blockheads to pass through the door and not those of other players.
