An amethyst is a rare precious gemstone item that is used in crafting or for upgrading a portal.
Appearance
Amethysts are purple, small and square in appearance. They distinctively radiant with a slight purple luminescence under the lack of direct sunlight. They look similar to emeralds.
Where Found
Amethysts are naturally found in the cavernous networks and underground regions of the world. They are typically surrounded by hard rock, such as stone. Occasionally, they can be found underwater in a subterranean confined or perched aquifer.
Portal Upgrade
Amethysts are needed to upgrade a portal to an amethyst (level 2) portal, allowing a blockhead to craft an amethyst pickaxe.
They also allow a level 1 trade portal to be upgraded to level 2, increasing the variety of items that can be bought and sold.
Crafting
Amethysts can be used to craft amethyst pickaxes at a portal once the portal has achieved an amethyst upgrade.
Amethysts can also be used to craft an amethyst chandelier at a craft bench that has achieved a level 3 upgrade.
