A sword is the most effective type of weapon available in The Blockheads.
Crafting
Swords can only be crafted using Bronze Ingots or Iron Ingots, with a stick also being required. The bronze sword is more powerful than using a flint spear, but requires three bronze ingots. The iron sword is more powerful than the Bronze sword but requires three iron ingots.
Use
Swords will usually kill Dodos, Donkeys, and Dropbears faster than a spear can, with an iron sword being more effective than a bronze one.
