- "Display things."
A shelf is an item that must be crafted.
Appearance
Once placed, a shelf looks to be two horizontal brown lines, one across the bottom and the other through the middle of its one-block space. The contents of a shelf are displayed in miniature according to how they're arranged in its storage spaces with no indication of how many of that item are stored.
A shelf can be painted to change its color.
Where Found
A shelf must be created at a woodwork bench. It takes one wood to make a shelf.

Uses
A shelf is used to store and display items. A shelf requires a back wall to be placed, but does not require an adjacent solid block. This allows them to be placed on back walls.
A shelf has four spaces that work similarly to those in a chest, including stacking and nesting.
Notes
The first time a player makes a blockhead places an item on a shelf, they will be awarded the achievement Top Shelf.
