A platinum block is a special block that must be crafted.
Appearance
A platinum block is light pink with a white stripe that goes diagonally.
Where Found
Unlike most blocks, a platinum block is not spawned in a new world and must be created at a metalwork bench or at the electric counterpart. It takes five platinum ingots to make a Platinum block.

Crafting
Platinum blocks can be crafted into columns and stairs at a level 2 builder's bench.

Platinum blocks can be used in construction.
I am not sure if it is only a bug but the Platinum Blocks of my House leads the electricity to the Furnace without copper wires, and I am nearly 100% sure that there never were wires.
