Future updates are updates that have not yet been released to the public. Most information on future updates are released via the @majicDave or @mjTheBlockheads twitter feeds or via official announcements on the forums.
Server World Customization
Revealed on Twitter, server world customization allows players to change how the world is generated. These worlds do not have time crystals or portal chests. The showcased image shows that oceans, temperature, rainfall, and plants can be customized.
World Generation Seeds
Revealed in a response to a tweet by @Emiljunior2, seeds are to be implemented in the upcoming update.
