Oil Lantern
Oil Lanterns are an improved source of light. They are brighter than torches but dimmer than steel lanterns. Oil lanterns give off about 20 blocks of light, including the block the lantern is placed on. Just like basic torches and steel lanterns, they do not light nearby flammable blocks on fire.

Uses
It can be placed on any background (back wall) block or on or next to another block. It will not stay in place if in contact with water.
Pros and Cons
Much brighter than torches(emitting an almost bright white colour), they are always a recommended source of lights for your house, exceeding the minimum requirements for light to let blockheads work comfortably. Still, they are not waterproof so don't try to place them in water, it will extinguish them and will drop as an item.
