Gold Tool
Gold tools (pickaxes and spades) are like their non-gold counterparts, but have a unique feature -- they can spawn items while being used.
Item Spawn Frequency Chart
The chart below is a collection of data to record the frequency a particular item spawns when using a gold tool. When an item is received, the results are recorded and updated below. To know the frequency percentage, divide the item quantity by the total.

Notes
Time Crystals may be produced from any block when using a gold tool.
A gold pick may produce bonuses when used on blocks other than raw stone. Limestone has produced oil. Marble has produced red marble. There are no reports of Lapis Lazuli being produced.
A gold spade may produce bonuses when used on sand, although much more rarely. It has been verified to have at least produced coconuts, prickly pears, and blocks of glass as well as time crystals.
Either tool may produce bonuses when used on ore blocks in addition to the ore, such as clay or flint in dirt or coal in stone. The type of bonus seems to depend on the base block.
There are no reports of results when using gold tools on non-blocks (creatures or plants).
