Apple trees are one of several fruit-bearing trees that can be found growing on dirt or planted in compost.
Where Found
Apple trees initially grow in temperate regions but will also grow successfully in equatorial areas.
Appearance
Apple trees have brown/gray trunks and green leaves. As the seasons change, the color of the leaves will also change to reflect the appropriate season. Some trunk blocks will have leaves overlaying them, but they are still part of the trunk. There may be apples hanging upon the leaves.
Farming
Apple trees will bear apples from its leaves during summer and fall. Apples, if in season, are harvested by hand and can be collected by passing through their space or when adjacent to the apple after it was tapped on. They do not require nor do they benefit from using any particular tools. Agriculturally, the fruit can be placed in a block of dirt or compost to grow an apple tree for farming additional applies or can be eaten to replenish a blockhead's health and hunger bars.
Sticks may be harvested from the tree's leaves. Using a machete will produce quicker results with a larger yield than by hand.
Wood may be also harvested from the tree's trunk. Doing so will despawn any leaves or trunk blocks on the same layer or above. For harvesting wood, using an axe will produce quicker results and a larger yield than by hand.
Planting an apple in dirt or compost will grow an apple tree. The tree will need to mature before it begins producing apples.
Apple trees die similarly to other trees. They rarely produce sticks or wood as they despawn.
Other
Dodo birds spawn around apple trees, and do not stray very far from them.
Apple trees, if placed in a plain of dirt or compost, can grow other apple trees. The parent apple tree sends little flakes a certain direction and if the flakes make contact with any dirt without a tree already in it (there can be vegetables) it may grow a little offspring tree.
Trivia
Apple trees are deciduous plants usually grouped in the rose family. They originated in central Asia.
