Future updates are updates that have not yet been released to the public. Most information on future updates are released via the @majicDave or @mjTheBlockheads twitter feeds or via official announcements on the forums.
Carbon Fiber Blocks
Revealed in a July 22 tweet, carbon fiber blocks are blocks presumably made of carbon fiber. When asked if aircraft would be added as well, majicDave responded "no comment!".

Improved Lighting
First revealed in a June 11 tweet, there will be various improvements to lighting in the game which is to be added in a future 1.6 update. There will be an ambient occlusion affect and directional lighting on side surfaces.
