Gold nuggets are the rarest of all the ores in the game.
Appearance
An unharvested deposit of gold is bright yellow in color with the same pattern as most other ores. When using the HD textures, it resembles coal more than other ores.
After harvesting, it becomes a yellow version of an unprocessed ore.
Where Found
Gold deposits are found underground in stone, usually within approximately 200 blocks above the magma surface at the center of the world. There may be exceptions, however, as it has also been discovered above sea level under the peak of the highest mountain of a world.
Gold deposits are easy to notice since they readily reflect existing light onto nearby blocks and will continue to faintly glow after all light sources are taken away.
Crafting
Gold nuggets can be used to upgrade a furnace to level 3 which can then be used to make gold ingots from any additional nuggets.
