- "Catch fish with ease."
The Fishing Rod is an alternative means for harvesting fish.
Appearance
A fishing rod appears in a Blockhead's inventory as a brown pole with a brown squiggle hanging from a white line at the higher end.
Creating
One stick, five string, and five worms can be combined at a craft bench to create one fishing rod.
Use
To use a fishing rod, it must be selected from a Blockhead's active inventory. This will bring up a one-button window above the Blockhead that reads "Cast." Tapping this button puts the Blockhead in casting mode. Casting mode is unavailable if the Blockhead is not standing securely on a solid block.
In casting mode, a swipe across the screen will define the direction and strength of the cast. The worm on the end of the line will be projected in roughly that direction and strength, subject to gravity and intervening solid blocks. The line will extend as necessary to connect the worm to the end of the rod. When the worm makes contact with water, it will quickly halt horizontal motion and begin sinking to the bottom. The line will follow, and when the worm is still it will "settle" itself until it appears to hang loosely from the tip of the rod.
Tapping the Blockhead's inventory or assigning it any other action may immediately retrieve the line and worm, ending the casting. Swiping the display will allow viewing different areas without canceling the cast.
Durability
A fishing rod can cast approximately 32 times before wearing out and disappearing.
