A coconut is a renewable resource food item that can be planted or consumed. When consumed, it restores health and hunger to a blockhead.

Appearance

Coconuts appear in game like their hulled, brown husked counterparts in real life, complete with three face-like markings on the end.

Where Found

They grow as fruits at the top of coconut trees in tropical, temperate, and equatorial biome regions. Unlike most fruit, coconuts only spawn in the highest block of coconut leaves and multiple coconuts can spawn in the same block.

Farming

Coconuts grow seasonally on coconut trees and are harvested by hand. Coconuts may also be collected by felling the tree that bears the coconut and picking them up from the ground. Agriculturally, the coconut can be placed in a block of dirt or compost to grow a coconut tree for farming additional coconuts.

Planting a coconut in a cold area will result in the death of the coconut tree as it will despawn when there is a layer of snow.

Coconuts are most often harvested during early winter, late spring, and summer.

Crafting

Coconuts are an ingredient in preparing fish curry on an electric stove.

Trivia

The round, brown, three-stoma version of a coconut familiar to those who see them in grocery stores is the inner part of the tree's fruit. A growing coconut is covered by a thick, fibrous husk (exocarp) with a green to brown color.
