The south pole is a snowy, icy part of the world marked by a blue and white striped pole extending 16 blocks above the surface and down to bedrock. Reaching this landmark earns the player the "South Pole" achievement.

As it is located in an arctic climate, an unprotected blockhead will take damage from the cold.

Near the south pole, celestial objects move left across the sky.

The pole itself is made of backwall blocks and can have oil lanterns, ladders, or other blocks placed on it.
