In single player you explore a big 2-D world made out of blocks. You start out by choosing if you are a male or a female, how you want to look and a name for your Blockhead.  The goal is basically anything you want it to be although it is recommended to build a base camp for chests and shelter. Without following basic guidelines your Blockhead will slow down when running, climbing, and crafting which makes the game progress slowly.  In order to keep your blockhead happy you will need to gather food, an easy and quick way to get food is by trees, where (depending on which tree) food is spawned.  Do not fear if there is no food due to there being many ways to get than just trees. When you start you will warp in by your portal that is spawned in the world. The portal may not look like much now but with a few time crystals your portal will become your most valuable object in the game (excluding the diamond pick).  Do not just go nuts and buy however many time crystals you think you will need because getting time crystals is almost easy as pie. When you can get so many time crystals you will be able to get picks that double, triple, quadruple, and even give you times five from mining, making getting time crystals much easier.  When night falls your Blockhead will want shelter and probably get tied decreasing happiness, due to lack of sleep and his surroundings (out in rain, cold, dark, hot). If you do not give him what he wants he will start to go slow making you in the end, mad. Now when you have a good shelter explore,  there are many achievements to unlock, you can warp in more blockheads to help you out, you can go to the north and south poles to get items with unique powers, it's your world and you can do whatever you want with it!

A single-player world in the menu

Single player lets players play The Blockheads on their own. Worlds created in single player are stored on the player's device and are accessible whether the device is online or offline.

Through the iOS implementations of The Blockheads, a single-player world can also be hosted over local network to allow up to five other players to join the world. The world can only be accessed by other players while the hosting player has that world active on their device in host mode.

If the app is deleted, all single-player worlds on the device are deleted.

Items can be transferred between single-player worlds and other worlds via portal chest, although blockheads cannot and are tied to the world they were created in.

Trivia

  • Before 1.7, the Game Center could be used to host a multiplayer session with one other player.
