Where Found
Stone comprises most of the world below the surface. It can also be found as part of floating islands.
Crafting
Stone can be used to craft tailor's benches, furnaces, presses, builder's benches, mixing benches, dye benches, portals, armor benches, train yards, columns, stairs, and stone tools.

Starting in version 1.6, this bedrock can be removed if the block to be removed meets certain requirements.
