== Fountains ==
A recent post suggested this idea.
The current water dynamics doesn't have a water cycle. Without a third dimension, adding one would be problematic. But with a little thought, it should be possible to incorporate a fountain. This would be a block (possibly 2-3 tall) that automatically interacts with water, drawing it in below and spraying it out above. If it drains the reservoir below it, there's nothing to spray, so it's important to allow the water to fall back down below the fountain. To prevent infinite water generation, the fountain will also not function if the upper surface is submerged.
A geyser would be a fountain spawned during world generation. It would necessarily include water underneath it and gaps for the water to return there. The trick would be setting it up so the fountain runs out of water before enough returns, resulting in a pulsing spray. (The alternative would be that all fountains are periodic.)
