The stronger the material a pickaxe is made out of, the faster it works. A [[Steel|steel]] pickaxe will remove a block of common stone in two strokes.
Pickaxes are one of the most commonly [[Crafting|crafted]] and used tools by a [[Blockhead]]. Their specific purpose is to mine or destroy hard material [[Blocks|blocks]] and [[Ore|ores]] at a faster rate than by hand. Used over time, a pickaxe will slowly degrade and eventually be destroyed. The amount of use of a pickaxe before being destroyed is related to the quality of pickaxe and materials used.

The head and counterweight has a crescent appearance with the color varying based on the materials that are used in crafting the pickaxe. However, all pickaxes have a brown wooden handle.

===Tool Bench Pickaxes===
Tool bench pickaxes are standard pickaxes with increasing durability. For an increase in quality, a Blockhead will need to upgrade the [[Tool Bench|tool bench]] to the appropriate level before crafting the desired pickaxe. These pickaxes do not provide any special benefit when mining or harvesting hard material [[Blocks|blocks]] or [[Ore|ores]].

A pickaxe made of gemstones produce a multiple of the material being harvested. Rarer gemstones make faster-acting pickaxes.
===Portal Pickaxes===
 
Portal pickaxes are pickaxes made of gemstones that have a benefit over pickaxes crafted in a [[Tool Bench|tool bench]]. These pickaxes produce a bigger production yield of materials being mined or harvested than their [[Tool Bench|tool bench]] counterparts. The more precious the gemstone, the greater the production yield bonus. For an increase in quality, an upgrade to the appropriate level of a Blockhead's [[Portal|portal]] is required before crafting the desired pickaxe.
A pickaxe made of [[Gold|gold]] will randomly harvest additional items based on the type of block being struck.
